Cardinals Score Five In Seventh To Edge Phillies

(PHILADELPHIA, PA) - The St. Louis Cardinals scored five runs in the top of the seventh and held on to defeat the Philadelphia Phillies 6-3.

Nick Stavinoha snapped a 1-1 tie in the seventh when he led off the seventh with a solo homer off Phillies starter Joe Blanton.

David Freese would add a three run double and scored on Colby Rasmus' RBI single that capped the big inning.

Jayson Werth and Chase Utley would add solo homers for Philadelphia.

St. Louis starter Jaime Garcia got the win to improve to 3-1 as the Cardinals have won three in a row.

Blanton took the loss for the Phillies.
