Wells Strong Pitching Effort Helps Cubs Blank Braves

(ATLANTA, GA) - The Chicago Cubs avoided a three-game sweep in Atlanta, blanking the Braves 2-0.

Rookie Tyler Colvin hit his first major league home run in the second inning to give Chicago the lead with Marlon Byrd adding another solo shot in the fourth.

The Cubs won despite collecting just four hits.

Randy Wells threw six shutout innings to get the win while Carlos Marmol managed to get out of a jam in the ninth to collect his first save.

Tommy Hanson took the loss for Atlanta, allowing both Chicago runs and all four hits over five and a third innings of work.
