Pacers May Look To Leave Indianapolis

Last updated on Wednesday, April 14, 2010

(INDIANAPOLIS, IN) - The Pacers are considering moving from Indianapolis if the city does not agree to cover the costs of running Conseco Fieldhouse, according to a published report.

The Indianapolis Star says owner Herb Simon will consider all options should the city not agree to take over the building's nearly 15-million dollar annual operating costs.

Pacers Sports and Entertainment President Jim Morris says if a deal is not reached by June 30th, Simon will start searching for other solutions.

The Pacers signed a 20-year lease with the city of Indianapolis in 1999, but there is a clause in the contract that allows the team to renegotiate its terms with the Capital Improvement Board after ten years.
