Butler And Duke Play For National Title Tonight

Last updated on Monday, April 5, 2010

(INDIANAPOLIS, IN) - The men’s college basketball season comes to an end tonight as the Butler Bulldogs face the Duke Blue Devils in the championship game of the NCAA Tournament at Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis.

The Bulldogs are in the title game for the first time after edging Michigan State 52-50 in Saturday's first national semifinal game.

The win was the 25th in a row for Butler, who enters tonight's game with a 33-4 record.

The Blue Devils are looking for their fourth championship, the first since 2001.

Duke had an easier time in their national semifinal, dispatching West Virginia 78-57.

The Blue Devils are 34-5. Butler could enter tonight's national championship game without the services of center Matt Howard.

Howard spent the final 9:24 of Saturday's win over the Spartans on the bench after feeling woozy following a collision on the court.

Head Coach Matt Stevens was careful not to refer to Howard's injury as a concussion during a news conference on Sunday, but the injury was severe enough that Howard was expected to miss Sunday's practice.

Guard Shelvin Mack was limited to eight minutes in the second half of the win over Michigan State due to leg cramps.

Mack reportedly was suffering from dehydration and is expected to play tonight.
