(INDIANAPOLIS, IN) - The NFL free agent signing period is underway and there is no official word on the status of Indianapolis Colts middle linebacker Gary Brackett.
Negotiations went late into Thursday night as the two sides tried to reach a deal before the start of free agency at 12:01 this morning.
Both ESPN and the Indianapolis Star reported late last night that Brackett was close to reaching an agreement and that a deal could be announced today.
Brackett has captained the defense for the past three season and was one of two Colts who was scheduled to become an unrestricted free agent today.
The other is kicker Matt Stover.
