Last updated on Tuesday, March 16, 2010

(IOWA CITY, IA) - The University of Iowa fired men’s basketball coach Todd Lickliter on Monday. The 54-year-old Lickliter was 38-58 in three seasons with the Hawkeyes.

He was let go with four years remaining on a seven-year contract.

Lickliter is an Indianapolis native who played at Butler and coached the Bulldogs for six seasons before heading to Iowa in 2007 to replace Steve Alford.

The Hawkeyes completed this season with a 10-22 mark after losing to Michigan in the first round of the Big Ten Tournament last week.

Iowa was eliminated in the conference tournament by the Wolverines in the first game in each of Lickliter's three seasons with the Hawkeyes.
