Colts Will Have Eight Picks For NFL Draft

Last updated on Tuesday, March 23, 2010

(INDIANAPOLIS, IN) - Barring a trade in the next month, the Indianapolis Colts will have eight picks for the NFL Draft.

The Colts were awarded two compensatory picks in the seventh round on Monday.

Those picks will be the 240th and 246th overall.

A total of 32 compensatory picks were awarded by the league on Monday.

The picks are awarded to teams who lost more free agents than they signed during the previous season with the value of those picks based on a formula involving the free agents involved.

The picks are compensation for the Colts losing punter Hunter Smith and defensive lineman Darrell Reid before the 2009 season.

The NFL Draft begins on April 22nd and runs through April 24th.
