(INDIANAPOLIS, IN) - Former Indianapolis Motor Speedway Chief Executive Officer Tony George has resigned from the board of directors of Hulman and Company and all affiliate companies, including the speedway.

George's resignation is effective immediately.

George was removed from his positions as CEO of Hulman and Company, the speedway, the Indy Racing League and others on June 30th of last year.

He continues to own Vision Racing, a competitor in the Izod IndyCar Series.

The Hulman and Company board has George's mother, Mari Hulman George, as its chairperson with three of his sisters and attorney Jack Snyder as its members.

In a statement released through the speedway, Mari Hulman George says that they had hoped Tony George would remain on the board and that they were disappointed in his decision to step down.

Tony George was replaced by Curt Brighton as President and CEO of Hulman and Company and Jeff Belskus became President and CEO of the Indianapolis Motor Speedway last summer.
