Late Free Throw Helps Butler Avoid Upset Loss

(CHICAGO, IL) - The 20th ranked Butler Bulldogs survived a scare at Loyola, defeating the Ramblers 48-47.

Terrance Hill tied the game for Loyola with a three-pointer with 49 seconds remaining before Butler regained the lead when Willie Veasley hit the second of two free throws with 35 seconds left.

Gordon Hayward and Shelvin Mack led the Bulldogs with twelve points each as Butler improves to 15-4, 8-0 in the Horizon League.

Walt Gibler led the Ramblers with 14 points with Hill finishing with twelve as Loyola drops to 12-6, 3-5 in league play.

Butler will stay in Chicago to face the UIC Flames on Saturday.
