George's Vision Racing Team Suspends Operations

Last updated on Friday, January 29, 2010

(INDIANAPOLIS, IN) - Tony George’s Vision Racing Team of the Izod Indycar Series has suspended operations due to a lack of sponsorship.

The team is co-owned by George, his wife Laura and actor Patrick Dempsey with George's stepson, Ed Carpenter, as the driver.

Thursday's announcement comes almost seven months after George was asked to resign his position as CEO of the Indianapolis Motor Speedway.

He also resigned as the head of the Indy Racing League last June and gave up his position on the Hulman and Company board of directors last week.

Yesterday's decision to shut down operations removes George from any involvement in the racing series he founded in 1994.
