Big Third Quarter Powers Lakers Past Pacers

(INDIANAPOLIS, IN) - Kobe Bryant scored 29 points as the Los Angeles Lakers beat the Indiana Pacers 118-96 at Conseco Fieldhouse.

The Pacers kept the game close for a half with Lamar Odom's three-pointer at the horn giving LA a 59-56 lead at halftime.

The Lakers took command in the third quarter, outscoring Indiana 33-22 in the period.

They extended their advantage in the fourth, leading by as many as 24 in the final minutes.

Andrew Bynum and Pau Gasol added double-doubles.

Bynum finished with 27 points and twelve rebounds while Gasol had 21 points and 13 boards as the Lakers improve to 35-11.

Roy Hibbert led Indiana with 21 points off the bench with Troy Murphy scoring 18 points as the Pacers fall to 16-30.

Indiana goes from playing the team with the best record in the Western Conference to facing the team with the best record in the league when the Cleveland Cavaliers come to the Fieldhouse on Friday night.
