Peoples Leads Irish Blowout Of Friars In Big East Opener

(SOUTH BEND, IN) - The Fighting Irish of Notre Dame won their Big East opener, defeating Providence 93-78 at the Joyce Center.

Jonathan Peoples led the Irish with 23 points with Tim Abromaitis adding 22 and Luke Harangody finishing with 19 points and 13 rebounds.

Providence's Jamine Peterson led all scorers with 24 points with Sharaud Curry finishing with 23 as the Friars fall to 8-5 on the season.

Notre Dame has won three straight to improve to 12-2.

The Irish travel to Connecticut to face the tenth-ranked Huskies on Saturday afternoon.
