(INDIANAPOLIS, IN) - It wasn’t easy, but the Indianapolis Colts remained perfect with a 28-16 victory over the Denver Broncos.
The Colts jumped on Denver early, scoring two first-quarter touchdowns and a third with just under eight minutes remaining before halftime to take a 21-0 lead.
The Broncos would claw back behind a record-setting performance by wide receiver Brandon Marshall.
Marshall received a pair of TD passes from Kyle Orton as Denver pulled to within five at 21-16 with 9:44 left in the game.
Marshall finished with a league-record 21 receptions for 200 yards and the two scores. Indianapolis responded with a 14-play, 80-yard drive in which Peyton Manning hit Dallas Clark for a game-sealing touchdown with 2:25 remaining.
With Sunday's win, the Colts locked up home-field advantage throughout the AFC playoffs. The Horseshoes also set a record for most wins in a decade.
Yesterday's victory was the franchise's 114th of the decade, breaking the old record of 113 set by the San Francisco Forty-Niners of the 1990's.
It was the 22nd-consecutive regular season win, breaking a tie Indianapolis had held with the New England Patriots.
Peyton Manning hit Pierre Garcon with a 29-yard completion on the first offensive play of the game and passed Warren Moon for fourth place in all-time passing yardage.
The Colts improve to 13-0 as they head to Jacksonville to take on the Jaguars on Thursday Night.
