Indiana, Purdue Among State Schools Opening Basketball Play Friday

(UNDATED) - The men's college basketball season gets underway this weekend with five state schools beginning play on Friday night.

The Purdue Boilermakers are ranked seventh nationally and open the 2009-2010 campaign against Cal State Northridge at Mackey Arena.

The Indiana Hoosiers look to improve on last year's 6-and-25 campaign as they welcome the Howard Bison to Assembly Hall.

The Ball State Cardinals take on the Valparaiso Crusaders at Worthen Arena in the lone matchup of state schools on Friday.

The Indiana State Sycamores play host To Nebraska-Kearney at the Hulman Center in Terre Haute.
