Reds Win Seventh In A Row

(ATLANTA, GA) - Pitcher Micah Owings drove home the winning run when he was hit in the head by a pitch with the bases loaded in the top of the twelfth inning as the Cincinnati Reds won their seventh game in a row, beating the Atlanta Braves 4-2.

Owings had to leave the game and could miss some time after being helped off the field.

Rookie Drew Stubbs had tied the game with a solo home run in the eighth off Braves reliever Mike Gonzalez.

In the twelfth, Kenshin Kawakami surrendered a hit and two walks before plunking Owings on an 0-1 pitch, scoring Joey Votto from third.

Corky Miller followed with a sacrifice fly to give Cincinnati an insurance run as they completed a three-game series sweep.

Owings got the win to improve to 7 and 12 while Kawakami took the loss to fall to 7 and 11.

The Braves have lost five games in a row.
