Fever Falls To Mercury 106-90

Last updated on Thursday, September 3, 2009

(INDIANAPOLIS, IN) - The Indiana Fever’s struggles continued as they fell to the Phoenix Mercury 106-90 at Conseco Fieldhouse.

Cappie Pondexter led Phoenix with 25 points with Dewanna Bonner adding 15 points off the bench and Diana Taurasi finishing with 14 points.

Indiana's Tamika Catching led all scorers with 27 points and twelve rebounds, but the big night was not enough to overcome the absence of Katie Douglas.

The Fever's leading scorer this season at 17.6 points per game was sidelined by a sprained ankle suffered on Saturday night against Sacramento.

The Fever have dropped four of their last five games to fall to 20 and 9.

Phoenix improves to 21 and 10 and splits the season series with Indiana.

The Fever face the Detroit shock Friday night at the palace of Auburn Hills.
