(ST. LOUIS, MO) - The Cincinnati Reds almost blew a 4-0 lead and held off a late charge by St. Louis, defeating the Cardinals 5-4.

Justin Lehr allowed a run on 11 hits, pitching into the seventh inning to improve to 2 and 0.

Albert Pulols made the score 5-2 in the eighth when he hit his 37th home run of the season off Cincinnati's Nick Masset with Yadier Molina adding an RBI double later in the eighth.

The Cardinals made it 5-4 on a throwing error in the ninth and had the tying run on second base when Francisco Cordero struck out Matt Holliday looking to end the game.

The Redbirds fail to extend their lead in the NL Central as they hold a three-game advantage over the Cubs.
