Pacers Coach Hopeful Dunleavy Will Be Ready For Opener

Last updated on Wednesday, August 19, 2009

(INDIANAPOLIS, IN) - Indiana Pacers Head Coach Jim O’Brien says he is hopeful that forward Mike Dunleavy will be ready for the regular season opener October 28th in Atlanta.

O'Brien tells the Indianapolis Star that the Pacers medical staff is pleased with Dunleavy's progress as he rehabilitates his knee from knee surgery in march and hip surgery in June.

The original prognosis was that Dunleavy would not be back before January of 2010.

The seven-year veteran from Duke averaged a career-high 19 points per game during the 2007-2008 season.

He played in just 18 games last season, averaging 15 points per contest.
