Last updated on Thursday, August 13, 2009

(BROOKLYN, MI) - NASCAR comes to Michigan International Speedway this weekend for Sunday’s Carfax 400 Sprint Cup Race.

The haulers arrive tonight with practice and qualifying scheduled for Friday. Carl Edwards is the defending race winner.

Edwards has yet to reach Victory Lane in a Sprint Cup race this season.

Mark Martin won the first Michigan race in mid June.

Tony Stewart enters the weekend as the points leader while much of the focus surrounds the twelfth and final transfer spot for the chase for the Sprint Cup.

Former Cup Champion Matt Kenseth is twelfth and holds a 58 point edge over 13th-place Kyle Busch.
