Mariners Pass White Sox 6-4

(SEATTLE, WA) - The Seattle Mariners used home runs by Russell banyan and Kenji Johjima to power their way past the Chicago White Sox 6-4.

Ken Griffey Junior put Seattle on the scoreboard first with a two-run single in the fourth with Chicago catcher Ramon Castro tying the game with a two-run double in the fifth.

Ichiro Suzuki put the Mariners back on top with an RBI single in the fifth before Carlos Quentin's two-run double in the sixth made it 4-3 White Sox.

Branyan hit a solo homer off Chicago starter Gavin Floyd with two out in the bottom of the sixth.

Floyd then walked Jack Wilson and was relieved by Tony Pena.

Johjima hit Pena's second pitch out of the park to give Seattle the lead for good.

With the loss, the Sox remain three games behind Detroit in the AL Central.
