(CHICAGO, IL) - The Chicago Cubs’ series finale with the Pittsburgh Pirates was rained out Sunday at Wrigley Field.
No makeup date was announced, but the Pirates are scheduled to return to Chicago for a series in late September.
The Cubs were looking to sweep the three-game series before heading out west for a seven game road trip in San Diego and Los Angeles.
The rainout combined with St. Louis' comeback win over San Diego drops the Cubs five games behind the first-place Cardinals in the NL Central.
