(CHICAGO, IL) - Mark Buehrle threw the 18th perfect game in Major League History as the Chicago White Sox shut out the Tampa Bay Rays 5-0.

Josh Fields gave Buehrle a comfortable lead with a grand slam in the second with Alexei Ramirez adding an RBI double in the fifth.

The Rays' best opportunity to break up the perfect game came in the ninth when Gabe Kapler was robbed of a home run by Chicago Centerfielder Dewayne Wise.

Wise had just entered the game as a defensive replacement.

Buehrle struck out six and threw 116 pitches in picking up his second career no-hitter.

The Chicago win combined with Detroit's loss to Seattle pulls the White Sox into a first-place tie with the Tigers in the AL Central.
