Last updated on Wednesday, July 29, 2009

(CARMEL, IN) - The US Senior Open Golf Championship begins Thursday at Crooked Stick Golf Club in Carmel.

Practice rounds for the 156 golfers in the field began on Monday.

The field includes the twelve previous US Senior Open Champions, including defending champion Eduardo Romero of Argentina.

Tom Watson, who finished second in the British open two weeks ago after losing to Stewart Cink in a playoff, arrived at Crooked Stick Tuesday but did not practice due to illness.

Watson and his fellow competitors will have one final practice round today.
