Mr. Basketball Represent More Than Hoosier State

Last updated on Friday, July 17, 2009

(LAS VEGAS, NV) - A pair of former Indiana Mr. Basketballs may soon be representing more than just the Hoosier state.

Eric Gordon, the 2007 Mr. Basketball from Indianapolis North Central, and Greg Oden, the 2006 recipient from Lawrence North, were selected to work out at a mini camp as part of selections for the 2012 Olympic Games.

USA Basketball is putting on the camp, which will be held july22 through 25th in Las Vegas.

While the Mini-Camps' priority is to evaluate players for the potential 2012 roster, the 2010 World Basketball Championships team will also be a possible placement.

Gordon, a 6-3 guard, finished his rookie season with the Los Angeles Clippers averaging 16.1 points and 2.8 assists per game.

He started 65 of the 78 games in which he played. Oden, who missed his first NBA season after having knee surgery, posted 5 points and 4.3 rebounds per outing last year in what was considered his rookie season.

The 7 foot center started 39 games for the Portland Trailblazers.
