Last updated on Thursday, July 30, 2009

(ST. LOUIS, MO) - Albert Pujols’ RBI single with two out in the bottom of the 15th inning gave the St. Louis Cardinals a 3-2 victory over the Los Angeles Dodgers.

Pujols lined a shot over the head of LA centerfielder Matt Kemp to score Julio Lugo from third and give the Cardinals their third-straight win over the Dodgers.

St. Louis staved off defeat twice as Colby Rasmus hit a broken-bat RBI single in the ninth to tie the game at one and force extra innings.

After Kemp hit a sacrifice fly in the eleventh, the Redbirds responded with Ryan Ludwick hitting a run-scoring single in the bottom of the frame.

With the win, St. Louis maintains a half-game lead over Chicago in the NL Central.

The Dodgers have lost a season-high four-straight games.
