Royals Use The Longball, Great Pitching To Beat Indians

(CLEVELAND, OH) - The Kansas City Royals used the long ball and a strong performance from Gil Meche to shut out the Cleveland Indians 9-0.

Meche allowed four hits and walked three while striking out eleven Cleveland hitters over seven innings to improve to 3-5.

Alberto Callaspo hit a grand slam with Jose Guillen and Miguel Olivo slamming two-run home runs.

Carl Pavano took the loss for the Indians, allowing nine runs on eleven hits over four and two-thirds innings to fall to 6-5.
