St. Louis Breaks Out The Big Sticks Against Nationals

(WASHINGTON, DC) - The St. Louis Cardinals scored five runs in the top of the ninth as they defeated the Washington Nationals 9-4 in the nation’s capital.

Rick Ankiel broke a 4-4 tie with an RBI double. The remaining four runs in the ninth scored on an infield single, a fielding error, a balk and a sacrifice fly.

Albert Pujols hit a two-run home run for St. Louis, his eighth of the season.

Ryan Zimmerman hit a two-run shot in a losing effort for Washington.
