ROP Starts Engines Today At Speedway

(INDIANAPOLIS) - Rookie orientation for the 93rd running of the Indianapolis 500 gets underway today at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway.

A sixth rookie was added to the entry list on Monday as Alex Tagliani was assigned to the #34 Conquest Racing entry.

Tagliani was a regular in the Champ Car World Series from 2002 through 2007, picking up his first win at Road America in 2004. He has raced in the first two IndyCar Series events this season.

He joins Stanton Barrett, Mike Conway, Robert Doornbos, Raphael Matos and Nelson Philippe as rookies expected to participate in ROP today.

Veterans John Andretti, AJ Foyt IV, Davey Hamilton, Buddy Lazier, Alex Lloyd, Scott Sharp and Paul Tracy will be allowed to take refresher laps today and tomorrow before the track is opened up to all veterans on Wednesday afternoon.
