(WEST LAFAYETTE) - Purdue basketball player Lewis Jackson pleaded guilty to charges of illegal alcohol consumption and possession of drug paraphernalia Monday during a court hearing in Piatt County, Illinois.
Jackson was arrested after being stopped for speeding outside his hometown of Decatur, Illinois on April 12th.
Jackson agreed to plead guilty to reduced charges in order to avoid serving jail time. The charges will be removed from his record provided he completes the requirements of his sentence without incident.
Those requirements include performing 50 hours of community service, random drug tests and staying out of establishments that primarily serve alcohol.
Purdue coach Matt Painter has yet to announce any team discipline against Jackson.
