Painter Says Jackson Could Return To Boiler Squad

Last updated on Thursday, April 23, 2009

(WEST LAFAYETTE) - Purdue basketball coach Matt Painter says point guard Lewis Jackson may not miss any playing time despite his recent arrest and guilty plea to drug and alcohol charges.

Painter said in a statement that he is disappointed in Jackson but that his playing status may not be affected provided he meets all court-imposed sanctions and requirements imposed by the team.

Jackson was arrested after being stopped for speeding near his hometown of Decatur, Illinois on April 12th. He pleaded guilty to charges of illegal alcohol consumption and possession of drug paraphernalia on Monday.

He will be under court supervision for one year, is subject to random drug testing and must perform 50 hours of community service as part of his sentence.
