No Score Until 9th As Red Sox Knock Out Indians

Last updated on Tuesday, April 28, 2009

(CLEVELAND, OH) - The Boston Red Sox extended their winning streak to eleven games with a 3-1 victory over the Cleveland Indians.

The game was scoreless until the ninth when Dustin Pedroia drew a walk from Indians closer Kerry Wood and David Ortiz followed with a single.

After Wood retired Kevin Youkilis on a fly to deep right, Jason Bay drilled a three-run homer to center.

Cleveland would get a run on a Mark DeRosa single in the ninth, but Jonathan Papelbon managed to get out of the jam and get the save. Neither starter figured in the decision.

Tim Wakefield allowed one hit over seven innings while Cliff Lee gave up five hits in his eight innings of work.
