Harang Allows Only 3 Hits As Reds Shut Out Pirates

Last updated on Monday, April 13, 2009

(CINCINNATI, OH) - Aaron Harang fired a complete-game three-hitter as the Cincinnati Reds blanked the Pittsburgh Pirates 2-0.

Brandon Phillips provided all of the game's offense in the first when he hammered an Ian Snell pitch over the left-centerfield wall with Willy Taveras on base.

That would be all that Harang would need as he walked none and struck out eight to even his record at 1-1. Snell takes the loss to fall to 0-2.

The Pirates did turn the first triple play of the young season in the eighth off the bat of Cincinnati's Edwin Encarnacion.
