Dye's Big Bat Reverses Sox' Bad Luck At Tropicana Field

Last updated on Friday, April 17, 2009

(ST. PETERSBURG, FL) - Jermaine Dye homered and John Danks threw six strong innings as the Chicago White Sox edged the Tampa Bay Rays 3-2.

Dye put Chicago on the board with a two-run shot off Rays starter Jeff Niemann in the second.

Carlos Pena drove home the lone run Tampa Bay would get off Danks with a solo shot in the sixth.

The teams would trade runs in the ninth with the Sox escaping with the win. Chicago had dropped five-straight games at Tropicana Field, including last season's playoffs.

Danks picked up the win to go to 1-0 while Niemann took the loss to fall to 0-2.
