Last updated on Thursday, April 23, 2009

(CHICAGO, IL) - Johnny Cueto, David Weathers and Francisco Cordero combined on a six-hit shutout as the Cincinnati Reds halted the Chicago Cubs’ three-game winning streak with a 3-0 victory at Wrigley Field.

Cueto allowed four hits over seven innings to pick up the win, improving to 1-1.

Willy Taveras put the Reds on the board with a sacrifice fly off Cubs starter Ted Lilly in the third. Joey Votto had an RBI double in the eighth and Jay Bruce hammered an opposite-field solo homer in the ninth to give Cincinnati some insurance.

Lilly gave up an unearned run on five hits over seven innings to take the loss.

Lilly has dropped his last five decisions against the Reds.
