A Homer A Day Keeps The Sweep Away For Cincinnati

(CINCINNATI, OH) - Joey Votto hit a three-run homer and drove in four as the Cincinnati Reds avoided being swept in their opening series with an 8-6 win over the New York Mets.

Paul Janish drove home what proved to be the winning runs with a two-run single in the fifth. Ryan Church had a two-run double and Carlos Delgado drove in a pair of runs for the Mets.

Bronson Arroyo picked up the win for Cincinnati with Oliver Perez taking the loss for New York.
