Pacers Top Heat At Conseco Fieldhouse

Last updated on Thursday, March 26, 2009

(INDIANAPOLIS, IN) - The Indiana Pacers took advantage of a poor shooting night from the NBA’s leading scorer and defeated the Miami Heat 90-88 at Conseco Fieldhouse.

Danny Granger led Indiana with 28 points with TJ Ford adding 20 off the bench as the Pacers ran their homecourt winning streak over Miami to 14 games in a row.

Dwyane Wade led the Heat with 21 points, nine below his league-leading average of 30. Wade had a chance to give Miami the win, but his three-point attempt at the buzzer rimmed out. Wade hit just five of his 24 shots on the night.

Udonis Haslem added 18 points and 14 rebounds as Miami falls to 38-and-33.

The Pacers played without forward Troy Murphy during last night's win over the Heat. Murphy sprained the MCL in his left knee during the team's shootaround Wednesday morning. He is scheduled to undergo an MRI today and it is not known how much time he will miss.

The Pacers were already without Marquis Daniels, who missed his third-straight game with a sprained right wrist.

With the win, Indiana improves to 30-and-42 and are four games behind the idle Chicago Bulls for the eighth and final playoff berth in the east. The Pacers and Bulls square off on Saturday afternoon in Chicago.

It was a good night for the blue-and-gold in the eastern conference standings. They gained a half-game on Chicago while gaining a full game on the three teams between themselves and the Bulls in the standings. Charlotte lost at Washington, Milwaukee fell at Toronto and New Jersey was beaten in Cleveland.

The Pacers stand a game and-a-half behind the Bobcats for ninth place in the east with the Bucks one game ahead and the Nets just a half-game ahead of Indiana in the standings.
