Lucas Oil Stadium Gets "Rave" Reviews For Hosting NCAA Roundball

Last updated on Tuesday, March 31, 2009

(INDIANAPOLIS) - Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis hosted the NCAA Midwest regionals last weekend. It marked the first time the stadium was configured for NCAA basketball games.

The fans and tournament officials gave the Lucas Oil Stadium rave reviews as a basketball venue.

John Dedman with the Indiana Sports Corporation says over 35,000 people attended the games, but twice as many fans are expected to fill the stadium next year when Indianapolis hosts the NCAA Final Four.

Dedman said there really weren't any surprises in the setup or operation of Lucas Oil Stadium during the Midwest regional since the planning committee had been working on the event for a year.

He says it was a good experience for the local committee members who are also in charge of staging the NCAA Final Four in Indianapolis next year.
