Tinsley Still With Pacers Following Trade Deadline

Last updated on Friday, February 20, 2009

(INDIANAPOLIS, IN) - The NBA trade deadline passed on Thursday afternoon with the Pacers standing pat.

Team President Larry Bird expressed frustration at not being able to get a deal done despite an active couple of days. Bird had hoped to unload Jamaal Tinsley, who has been in limbo this season thanks to some off-court issues and a substantial amount of money due the veteran point guard over the final two years of his contract.

Bird says two deals involving Tinsley came close to being made, but that he was unwilling to trade center Jeff Foster or rookie guard Brandon Rush.

Bird has said that the Pacers will not buy out the remainder of Tinsley's contract and Tinsley has since filed a grievance against the club seeking his release.
