Illinois Holds Off Late IU Rally, Wins 65-52

Last updated on Monday, February 16, 2009

(BLOOMINGTON, IN) - Mike Davis scored 16 points and grabbed ten rebounds and Mike Tisdale also finished with 16 points as 20th-ranked Illinois beat Indiana 65-52 at Assembly Hall in Bloomington.

The Illini led by as many as 21 points in the first half, but the Hoosiers managed to cut it to six late in the second before Illinois pulled away.

The Illini are 21-and-5, 9-and-4 in Big Ten play.

Matt Roth was the only Indiana player to reach double figures, finishing with 13 points as the Hoosiers set a pair of dubious records in falling to 6-and-18, 1-and-11 in the conference.

The 18 losses surpasses the school record set by the 1969-1970 team while the eleven Big Ten losses ties the mark for futility set by that same team.

The Hoosiers host Wisconsin on Thursday night.
