(MUNCIE, IN) - New Ball State football coach Stan Parrish added three assistant coaches to his staff on Tuesday.

Doug Graber returns to the Cardinal program as assistant head coach and defensive coordinator. Graber served as defensive backs coach under Dave McClain in 1976 and 1977. He is a former head coach at Montana State and Rutgers. Graber last coached with the New York Jets in 2004.

The 35-year coaching veteran says he is returning to coaching to work with Parrish, who was an assistant while Graber was head coach at Rutgers. He has worked with NFL Network and ESPN as an analyst since his stint with the Jets ended.

Deion Melvin was named linebackers coach. Melvin spent the past two years at Bowling Green. Pat Perles was named offensive line coach. Perles has been an assistant at North Dakota State for the past six seasons. He is the son of former Michigan State Head Coach George Perles.

Ball State also announced the hiring of former Cardinals quarterback Joey Lynch as receivers coach last week. Lynch is the son of Indiana University Head Coach Bill Lynch.
