(HONOLULU, HI) - The Fighting Irish of Notre Dame continue to prepare for Wednesday night’s Hawaii Bowl against the Hawaii Warriors in Honolulu.
Notre Dame Head Coach Charlie Weis says he will continue to call the plays on offense tomorrow night against Hawaii. Weis took over the play-calling duties from offensive coordinator Mike Haywood for the final three games of the regular season.
The Irish appear to be healthy entering Wednesday's game. The South Bend Tribune reports that reserve defensive end Kallen Wade sat out Sunday's practice with an injury to his ankle or foot. Linebacker Harrison Smith, wide receiver Michael Floyd and cornerback Terrail Lambert, who were hampered by knee injuries at the end of the season, were back practicing at full speed.
The 6-and-6 Irish are trying to snap a nine-bowl losing streak as they take on the 7-and-6 Warriors. Notre Dame has not won a postseason bowl game since knocking off Texas A&M 24-21 in the Cotton Bowl following the 1993 season. The nine-game losing streak in bowls is an NCAA record.
This is the ninth bowl game in the history of Hawaii football.
The Warriors were pummeled by Georgia 41-10 in the Sugar Bowl last January 1st. It was one of just two bowl appearances for the Warriors outside of the state of Hawaii. This is their fifth appearance in the Hawaii Bowl.
