Colts Running Backs Questionable For Lions Matchup

Last updated on Tuesday, December 9, 2008

(INDIANAPOLIS, IN) - The Indianapolis Colts may be a little thin at running back when they host the 0-and-13 Detroit Lions Sunday at Lucas Oil Stadium.

Joseph Addai left last Sunday's win over Cincinnati briefly with a shoulder injury and kick returner Chad Simpson, who backs up Addai and Dominic Rhodes, suffered an ankle injury against the Bengals.

Tony Dungy held his weekly news conference on Monday and says he thinks Addai will be able to play but was not sure about Simpson's availability. If Simpson is unable to return kicks, rookie Pierre Garcon will likely fill in.

Dungy says safety Bob Sanders came out of the Cincinnati game okay. The 2007 defensive player of the year had missed the horseshoe's previous three games with swelling in his surgically-repaired right knee.

Center Jeff Saturday should be ready to return against Detroit. The three-time Pro Bowl selection has missed two games after suffering a calf injury against San Diego.

Middle linebacker Gary Brackett will miss at least another week. The Colts' defensive captain broke a bone in his leg at Cleveland two weeks ago and was replaced by second-year linebacker Buster Davis against the Bengals.
