Colts Return To Practice Field, Face Chargers This Saturday

Last updated on Tuesday, December 30, 2008

(INDIANAPOLIS, IN) - The Indianapolis Colts return to practice today as they begin preparing for Saturday’s playoff opener with the San Diego Chargers.

Head Coach Tony Dungy says linebacker Gary Brackett is not ready to practice and thinks that the Colts' defensive captain may be another week away from returning. Brackett cracked a bone in his leg against Cleveland on November 30th and has not played since.

Offensive linemen Mike Pollak and Jamey Richard and wide receiver Anthony Gonzalez suffered injuries in last Sunday's win over Tennessee. Dungy thought Gonzalez would be ready to go in San Diego but was not certain about the status of Pollak and Richard.

The horseshoes and San Diego met in last year's divisional playoff with the Chargers upsetting the Colts 28-24 in what was the final game at the RCA Dome. San Diego went on to lose to New England in last season's AFC championship game.

The Colts and chargers played in November at Qualcomm Stadium with Adam Vinatieri's 51-yard field goal as time expired giving Indianapolis a 23-20 victory.
