Brackett To Miss Colts Playoff Opener

Last updated on Wednesday, December 31, 2008

(INDIANAPOLIS, IN) - Head Coach Tony Dungy says linebacker Gary Brackett will not play in the Colts’ playoff opener Saturday night in San Diego.

Brackett missed the Colts' final four regular season games after cracking a bone in his leg November 30th against Cleveland.

Brackett's absence may cause a change in the lineup at linebacker on Saturday with Tyjuan Hagler possibly getting the start at outside linebacker in place of Freddy Keiaho, who would move to Brackett's spot in the middle.

Buster Davis was signed following Brackett's injury and has started the last three games at middle linebacker.

Dungy says safety Bob Sanders is expected to play against the Chargers. Sanders missed ten games this season with knee and ankle problems.

Dungy is hopeful that rookie offensive linemen Mike Pollak and Jamey Richard get into a practice at some point this week. Pollak injured an ankle and Richard suffered a leg injury in the Colts' win over Tennessee last Sunday.

If either of the rookie offensive linemen are unable to go, veteran Dan Federkeil will get the start.
