Ball State Declines Offer Of The Unbeatens

Last updated on Thursday, December 4, 2008

(DETROIT, MI) - Ball State has declined an offer to play Boise State in the Humanitarian Bowl on December 30th.

Humanitarian Bowl officials announced that the Cardinals declined the opportunity to face the Broncos in what could have been a matchup of unbeatens.

The Humanitarian Bowl is played at Boise State's home field in Idaho, which is a major factor in the university's decision to pass.

The MAC is tied into three bowls - the Motor City Bowl in Detroit, the GMAC Bowl in Mobile, Alabama and the International Bowl in Toronto.

The Cardinals go for their first Mid-American Conference football championship in twelve years tomorrow night as they face the Buffalo Bulls in the MAC Championship game in Detroit.

The Cardinals are 12-and-0 and went 8-and-0 in conference play to reach the championship game for the first time.

Ball State enters the game ranked twelfth in this week's BCS standings, but are a longshot to move up to a BCS bowl.

The Bulls are also making their inaugural appearance in the MAC Championship game. Buffalo finished the regular season at 7-and-5, 5-and-3 in conference play.

Friday's game will be the seventh meeting between the Cardinals and the Bulls with Ball State winning all six previous games. Buffalo has never beaten a top-25 team in the history of the school's football program.
