Unbeaten Cardinals Host Northern Illinois This Week

Last updated on Tuesday, November 4, 2008

(MUNCIE, IN) - The Ball State Cardinals are back in action Wednesday as the Northern Illinois Huskies visit Scheumann Stadium.

The Cardinals are one of only eight unbeaten teams remaining in the football bowl subdivision as they enter tomorrow's game at 8-and-0. It is the best start for a Ball State football team since the 1965 squad started by winning its first nine games.

The Cardinals are currently 17th in the BCS standings. The Huskies are 5-and-3 with a 4-and-1 mark in Mid-American Conference play.

The Cardinals have won two of their last three games with Northern Illiniois including a 27-21 victory last year in Dekalb. Before the latest Ball State streak, the Huskies had taken seven of eight from the Cardinals.

The Ball State - Northern Illinois series now has a travelling trophy that will go to the winner as the teams play for "The Bronze Stalk".
