Ball State Remains Undefeated With Win Over Huskies

(MUNCIE, IN) - Nate Davis threw four touchdown passes and ran for another score as the 17th-ranked Ball State Cardinals had little trouble with Northern Illinois, defeating the Huskies 45-14.

Davis completed 18 of 22 passes, including the final twelve he threw, for 300 yards before leaving early in the fourth quarter. Miquale Lewis ran for 119 yards and a touchdown with Cory Sykes adding 72 more yards on the ground for the Cardinals. Louis Johnson caught six passes for 165 yards with a 22-yard touchdown reception as Ball State improves to 9-and-0.

Northern Illinois was outgained 529 yards to 275 in total offense as the Huskies fell behind 21-0 before finally reaching the end zone in the third quarter. Chandler Harnish completed 14 of 22 passes for 115 yards with an interception for NIU. Harnish scored the Huskies' first touchdown on a 25-yard run with Ricky Crider adding a 40-yard touchdown run with just over a minute and a half remaining in the game.

Northern Illinois falls to 5-and-4 on the season. The Cardinals hit the road to face the Miami Redhawks on Tuesday night.
