Ball State Aim For MAC Championship

Last updated on Monday, November 24, 2008

(MUNCIE, IN) - The Ball State Cardinals go for the Mid-American Conference west division championship Tuesday night when they host the Western Michigan Broncos.

The Cardinals are 15th in this week's BCS standings and remained perfect last Wednesday, knocking off two-time defending MAC champion Central Michigan 31-24 to improve to 11-and-0. They still need a win tomorrow night or a Central Michigan loss at Eastern Michigan on Friday to win the division title outright.

The Broncos are 9-and-2, 6-and-1 in the west and can still win the division with a victory over the Cardinals and a Central Michigan loss at Eastern Michigan.

Ball state's 11 wins are a school record as the team tries to win its first Mid-American Conference championship since 1996.

The winner of the MAC west will face east division champion Buffalo in the conference championship game on Friday, December 5th at Ford Field in Detroit.
