(MOUNT PLEASANT, MI) - The Ball State Cardinals preserved their undefeated season with a come-from-behind 31-24 win at Central Michigan.
The Chippewas took a 24-17 lead 39 seconds into the fourth quarter before Nate Davis found Louis Johnson on a 45-yard touchdown throw with 12:51 remaining to tie the game.
The Cardinals took the lead for good on a Davis to Briggs Orsbon eleven-yard TD with 7:29 left.
Davis completed 12-of-22 passes for 175 yards and four touchdown passes while Miquale Lewis ran for a career-high 177 yards.
Johnson finished with two catches for 65 yards, but both receptions went for touchdowns.
Daniel Ifft also caught an 18-yard touchdown pass for Ball State.
Central Michigan Quarterback Dan LeFevour went 30-for-44 for 342 yards, two touchdowns, but had a pass picked off by the Cardinals' Sean Baker with 27 seconds remaining to seal the win.
LeFevour was also the Chippewas leading rusher, carrying the ball 24 times for 76 yards while Ontario Sneed had an eight-yard touchdown run for CMU.
Ball State improves to 11-and-0, 7-and-0 in Mid-American Conference play.
They can clinch the MAC-West Championship with a win at home Tuesday night against Western Michigan.
Central Michigan falls to 8-and-3, 6-and-1 in the MAC.
The Chippewas are still alive for a possible third-straight MAC title as they can still win the west division if Ball State loses to the Broncos.
