(AUBURN HILLS, MI) - The Indiana Pacers open their NBA regular-season schedule tonight when they face the Detroit Pistons at the Palace of Auburn Hills.

The Pacers are coming off an offseason in which they traded six-time all-star Jermaine O'Neal and acquired point guards TJ Ford and Jarrett Jack in an attempt to bring stability to the position.

Incumbent point guard Jamaal Tinsley remains on the roster but has remained away from the team as the Pacers try to trade him.

Projected starter Mike Dunleavy is out for tonight's game with soreness in his right knee.

The Pistons have won the central division each of the last four seasons, making it to the eastern conference finals all four years. They won the NBA championship in 2004 but the last three years have ended in defeat one step shy of the NBA finals.

In the offseason, Team President Joe Dumars fired Head Coach Flip Saunders and promoted Assistant Coach Michael Curry. All five starters from last season return although Antonio McDyess has been sent to the bench in favor of 21-year-old forward Amir Johnson.
